Richard was called to the Bar in 1999 and is a Hardwicke Scholar of Lincoln’s Inn. Having worked in the Legal Services Department for the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, Richard undertakes work in Local Government Law including ASBO’s, anti-social behaviour injunctions under local government legislation and Environmental Health prosecutions. He has addressed the London Borough Police Commanders on co-operation policy with local authority lawyers to achieve exclusion orders for persistent ASB offenders.
Richard also held seminars for Licensing Councilors in the Licensing Act 2003 before joining Chambers and has considerable experience in Licensing Law. He is regularly instructed by licensing authorities both in London and the provinces as well as tenant associations acting as interested parties. Richard appears before licensing committees as well as the Magistrates’ Court on licensing appeals.
Richard accepts instructions in both public and private sector housing cases while criminal work includes representing the CPS in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire and defence work for provincial and London solicitors.
Richard is Public Access trained and accepts direct instructions in areas of his specialism.
