Practice Profile:
Ana practises exclusively in family law, predominantly in the law relating to children. Her principal areas of practice are in public and private family law.
Ana’s experience in private family law proceedings includes applications to remove permanently from the jurisdiction, residence, contact and special guardianship. She is able to provide advice and representation in emergency applications and injunctions.
She is regularly instructed by local authorities, both in Hertfordshire and neighbouring counties, and accepts instructions on behalf of parents, grandparents and children’s guardians in cases involving issues of child protection; the physical, sexual, emotional abuse or neglect of children.
Ana has extensive experience in public law proceedings including care and supervision orders, contact with children in care, recovery and collection orders, secure accommodation and public interest immunity and disclosure.
Ana has a particular interest in cases which involve medico-legal aspects of care proceedings with complex medical evidence especially where there are allegations of non-accidental injury. Ana has a Master of Arts Degree in Medical Law and Medical Ethics. Ana previously practiced in the criminal courts and prosecuted, inter alia, offences committed by and against children and offences under the Children Act 1989. Her previous experience in the criminal courts has honed her forensic and cross-examination skills and her knowledge of Crown Court procedure makes her an ideal candidate for dealing with matters which overlap between the two disciplines.
